Explorations

Published 15.07.2025

Looking for an enriching family activity this vacation season? For the summer vacations, with family or friends, enjoy a captivating and unforgettable experience in Differdange!

Did you know that the Luxembourg Science Center is open every day?

The Luxembourg Science Center in Differdange is the perfect destination for an entertaining and educational vacation. Our interactive discovery center, dedicated to science and new technologies, offers a fascinating adventure for all ages. Take advantage of your vacation to explore with family and friends, and immerse yourself in a surprising universe with almost 100 interactive stations and 20 Science Shows to discover, including our Planetarium.

Beyond that, for this summer season, you can expect plenty of new features and surprises.

NEW - Temporary exhibit :

Full combustion: “The evolution of the engine through time”.

Dive into the heart of human ingenuity and discover the very first combustion engine in the history of mankind, “the Lenoir engine”, as well as the different types of engines: 2-stroke, 4-stroke, diesel and many others.

Take a look at the history of the various engines and the great automotive personalities such as Étienne Lenoir, Nicolaus Otto, Carl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler and Rudolph Diesel, who revolutionized the way we travel every day.

On Tuesday, July 29 at 3 p.m., the Fondation Lenoir will be on site to start the engine and give a general presentation (in luxembourgish). Our teams will then take the opportunity to start up our “Deutz” engine, one of the showroom's centerpieces. Other dates may follow in the near future.

NEW – The exploration room is evolving:

Our teams are currently hard at work on a major redevelopment project for our Exploration Room. The vast majority of our interactive stations have been relocated and grouped by theme, to facilitate visitor exploration.

The “Thinker Zone”, a separate area, is already accessible, in which we've grouped various activities centred on DIY.

Floor markings will further enhance the different zones, as will a system of partitions to further delineate the areas and enrich the customer experience. Among other things, the astronomy zone will be partitioned off to darken this part of the room (Planetarium, Fog Chamber…), and there will be plenty of other surprises in the decor.

NEW – Several interactive stations join the exhibition

  • Automatic Mixed Painting": As part of a partnership, the Scienteens Lab (Uni.lu) has installed a new interactive station at the LSC, open to the public until September 11. Discover how to modify images using AI. Your mission: guess which image is the original.

  • Building Damping : A brand-new station will be joining the exploration in the coming weeks. Simulate earthquakes to discover the secret of Taipei 101's stability in the face of tremors.

  • Loto : A 2nd new station will join the exhibition very soon. Take part in a fun, interactive draw and experiment with the mysteries of chance and probability.

NEW: Workshops in partnership with Uni.lu

Finally, in partnership with the University of Luxembourg, students will be offering a variety of workshops (in English).

  • Early August (to be confirmed) : True or False? Can You Spot Misinformation?

"This interactive quiz will test your skills in spotting fake news! Along the way, you’ll learn how to detect misinformation and sharpen your ability to separate fact from fiction."

  • 14/08/2025: 3..2..1 BLAST OFF

"Launch your own rocket in 3 steps: Learn the basics of rocket science and fun facts about space. Design and build your unique rocket. Blast off your rocket and watch it soar!. (10–12H & 13–15H / 20 participants per workshop. First come, first served.)"

  • 19/08/2025 : Teaching Physics: Hands-On vs. VR
